EDITING some older uploads, mostly lightening the exposure, to show details. You may want to delete the bad ones you have "Favorited," once you see the better ones.
This is the first one I have levelled or straightened. See old version, in the actual Photoset.
I include pics of an active location in a photo stream dedicated to abandoned or re-purposed buildings, only because it is the nicest Perkins in the city, well kept, generally good service, and still open 24-7. RETAIL MEMORIES! with Darrell James on Flickr: Posted a Photo

This older Burger King has the familiar roof drop-down, over the entry doors, but instead of being obscured by the "wedge" they sometimes built on, this one is obscured by a play area add-on. RETAIL MEMORIES! with Darrell James on Flickr: Posted a Photo
This old Red Lob has been "Tommy's" for at least 12 years that I know of, maybe longer. RETAIL MEMORIES! with Darrell James on Flickr: Posted a Photo

This station is in good repair, still sporting its gull-wing canopy, its step-back service bay doors, its tilt-out glass, in the waiting area.
It does appear to have had something added on, on the north end, right edge of one picture. RETAIL MEMORIES! with Darrell James on Flickr: Posted a Photo

This Sambo's lost its flat roof profile in about 1985-86 when the chain, "Po' Folks" came to the area.
This building was so altered, for Po' Folks, I did not spot it as a Sambo's, and am really embarrassed.
My thanks to john4kc, who grew up here, for setting me straight.
If I had seen it from this angle, I might have spotted it as a Sambo's. The step-down soffit, the vast amount of glass that would've been in place, in the past. They have added crazy amounts of masonry here. . RETAIL MEMORIES! with Darrell James on Flickr: Posted a Photo

Back room is an add-on, of course. RETAIL MEMORIES! with Darrell James on Flickr: Posted a Photo

Since the hip roof can hardly be seen from this angle, it makes it easier to imagine it as a Sambo's. RETAIL MEMORIES! with Darrell James on Flickr: Posted a Photo

This is the best shot, as it has the original location of the doors, and the big stone area where the signage was, right in front of these cars. |
